LIGHT RENOVATIONS

Following on previous project’s investigation of Olin Hall, students will now bring new tectonic systems to bear on the existing structure. For this project, students are to remove Olin Hall’s existing brise soleil, window wall, and railing systems, and design new material assemblies for those areas. The basic building structure (concrete frame & slabs) will remain, through minor modifications to allow for new connection are permitted.

USC OLIN HALL OF ENGINEERING

The building selected for this exercise is the west wing of the USC Olin Hall of Engineering. Many of the elements that combine to form this building are visible; some are not. Students are to work backwards from what they can see & measure, and extrapolate what they cannot base on their knowledge and research.
